Introduction

This document describes WMS release policy and all major stages of a WMS version lifecycle (e.g. End of Development, End of Life, End of Tech Support) and their differences. Here you can also find Release Schedule.

Major stages of WMS version lifecycle

In short, a major WMS version passes the following stages:

  1. Global Availability

  2. End of Development (end of sales)

  3. End of Life and End of Tech Support

When globally available, a WMS version is being further developed, with new features released, bug fixes, as well as performance and security improvements. The other two stages (End of Development and End of Life) are described in detail below.

...

WMS version is considered End of Development (end of sales) when the next major version becomes globally available. While the WMS version is at the End of Development stage and until it is End of Life:

  • Only critical bug fixes and security improvements are delivered

    .

  • No new features are delivered

    .

  • Wildix continues to provide technical support

    .

  • For subscription-based PBXs, an upgrade to the next major version is arranged automatically:

    1. Partners are encouraged to do the upgrade by themselves

    2. Wildix team schedules an update and notifies Partners about the upcoming date (2 months in advance)

  • For LifeTime PBXs, there is a Promo to convert LifeTime to the subscription model, with the possibility to roll back to a version that is still supported. No automatic upgrade is possible

End of Life (EOL) and End of Tech Support (EOTS)

LifeTime PBXs that were not converted to the subscription model during the End of Development stage, remain with a WMS version that is End of Life.

Note

Note: You can still upgrade LifeTime PBXs, but to do so, you first need to convert them to the subscription model.

When a WMS version is End of Life/ End of Tech Support:

  • There are no security updates or patches

    .

  • The services provided by the PBX might stop working due to updates of other software (browsers, operating systems, anti-viruses, Wildix Cloud microservices, etc)

    .

  • Technical support is no longer provided

    .

  • Fees for maintaining the EOL PBX increase incrementally as this WMS version becomes older; the exact amount will be communicated annually to partners.

  • The EOL PBX is maintained for as long as the maintenance fee is paid and as long as it is technically possible

Release Policy

The policy outlines regular release cycle for the WMS (PBX) to ensure predictable and timely updates. This also enables smoother planning for Partners. Starting from October, 2024, the release cycle has switched to one Stable release every two months.

  1. Beta Releases:

    • Beta versions are released weekly, allowing early feedback from interested Partners

...

  1. Release Candidate:

    • The Release Candidate (RC) is announced in the first week of Month 1

...

    • The RC remains frozen for one month, with only hotfixes applied if necessary

...

  1. Stable Release:

    • The stable version is rolled out starting the first week of Month 2, following the RC period

...

    • The rollout to all regions is completed within two weeks

  1. Long-term Support Release:

    • In 2 months after stable version rollout, the stable becomes the long-term support version,

    • It is aimed to provide a long-term support upgrade path offering a more predictable release schedule for users who need extended support cycles

Release Schedule

This schedule provides consistency and transparency, allowing Customers and Partners to plan their operations and testing processes accordingly. Any major changes or delays will be communicated promptly.

...

The tables will be updated with new versions.
